The successful candidate will provide expert care in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of cancer patients, contributing to both clinical excellence and the advancement of oncology services within our institution.Key Responsibilities:Clinical Management: Diagnose and treat a wide range of cancers, developing individualized treatment plans that may include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, hormone therapy, and targeted therapy.Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and nursing staff, to provide comprehensive patient care.Patient Consultations: Conduct thorough consultations with patients, discussing diagnoses, treatment options, potential side effects, and prognoses with clarity and empathy.Education and Training: Mentor and train junior doctors, medical students, and other healthcare professionals in oncology practices and protocols.Research and Development: Engage in clinical research projects, contributing to advancements in oncology and staying updated with the latest medical developments.Quality Improvement: Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.Requirements:Medical Registration: Eligibility for registration or current registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) under the Specialist Division for Medical Oncology.Experience: Substantial experience in medical oncology, with a proven track record of managing complex oncological cases.Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information effectively to patients and colleagues.Leadership Abilities: Demonstrated leadership in clinical settings, with experience in guiding and developing medical teams.Professional Development: Commitment to continuous professional development and staying abreast of advancements in oncology.Salary and Benefits:Salary: €231,000 to €277,000 per annum, plus compensation for additional hours worked.Public Holidays: 10 days.Continuous Medical Education (CME) Leave: 7 days per year.
