We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our client, a prominent civil engineering contractor based in Co Sligo.
Key Responsibilities:
* Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for tender submissions, encompassing materials, labour, and equipment expenses.
* Collaborate with project teams to develop accurate budgets, considering all project requirements and constraints.
* Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle, identifying and addressing any cost variances or discrepancies.
* Procurement: Manage procurement processes, including the preparation and issuance of tender documents to subcontractors and suppliers.
* Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids, negotiating prices and contract terms to achieve the best value for the company.
* Foster and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
* Contract Management: Review and negotiate contracts, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
* Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions, monitoring project progress and deliverables.
* Resolve any contractual disputes or claims, striving for timely and effective resolution.
* Cost Control and Reporting: Monitor project costs, tracking expenditures and analyse cost trends.
* Prepare regular cost reports and forecasts, providing accurate financial information to project stakeholders.
* Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements, implementing appropriate measures.
* Value Engineering: Collaborate with project teams to identify value engineering opportunities.
* Assess alternative materials, designs, or construction methods to optimise costs without compromising quality.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field.
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering sector.
* Thorough understanding of construction contracts, tendering processes, and cost management principles.
* Strong analytical and numerical skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
* Excellent negotiation and communication abilities, with the capacity to build and maintain relationships.
* Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
* Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
* Possession of a valid driver's license.
