Machinist – Automation Manufacturing Equipment
Our clients are a growing firm and part of a multi-national group. They are looking to recruit an experienced Machinist, who will join their team of engineers who design and build bespoke manufacturing equipment.
The Role:
1. Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, and turning.
2. Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three and four jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
3. Plan stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
4. Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints and mechanical drawings.
5. Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function.
6. Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines.
7. Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications.
8. Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate a large number of parts.
9. Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result.
10. Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.
The Person:
1. Proven experience as a CNC operator.
2. Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools.
3. Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
4. Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM.
5. Mechanical aptitude and good math skills.
6. A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach.
7. Understanding of quality control principles.
8. Good communication skills (verbal and written).
9. ONC or HNC from a technical background.
10. Successfully completed apprenticeship.
11. Identify and understand the requirements of the internal customer.
12. All-round proficiency in communication.
13. Maintaining a clean, paper-free working environment.
14. Keeping up to date with company procedures and news.
15. Understanding and working with the company’s core values.
16. Compliance with security procedures and health & safety.
