Job Description
The successful candidate will:
• Work and support cross disciplinary teams working on feasibility and optioneering stages informing preliminary design, statutory consent, and construction stage projects in the energy, water and transport sectors;
• Prepare and review high quality reports including; Biodiversity sections of Environmental Reports and Environmental Impact Assessment Reports, Appropriate Assessment Screening and Natura Impact Statements and other biodiversity related reporting;
• Have a sound appreciation of Irish environmental and planning reporting processes and relevant legislation and guidance;
• Have knowledge and experience of interpreting ecological monitoring data;
• Have experience of co-ordinating ecology surveys (ecologist staff and sub-consultants);
• Manage data using GIS (ArcGIS).
Candidate Specification
The successful candidate will possess:
• Relevant Degree (e.g. Ecology / Botany / Zoology/ Environmental Sciences);
• Consultancy experience, focused on environmental/ ecology.
• Excellent reporting ability with examples available.
• Experience of ecological assessment/ reporting requirements for large scale linear projects in the water, energy or transport sectors;
• Extensive understanding and experience of Appropriate Assessment (Habitats Directive) including experience in writing screenings for Appropriate Assessment and Natura impact Statements;
• Experience of managing data requirements from ecologist staff and sub-consultants;
• Experience in liaising with key stakeholders ( for example National Parks and Wildlife Service and Inland Fisheries Ireland),
• Comprehensive awareness of relevant Irish and European legislation, policy and guidance;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Working knowledge of GIS;
• CIEEM membership or working towards same; and
• Willingness to travel.
