The Role of the Graduate Quantity Surveyor is to assist in the commercial control of projects in accordance with company policies and procedures and this is done through the process of the Graduate Quantity Surveyor Training Plan.

Duties:
1. Assist the Project Surveyor in the day-to-day commercial and contract activities of a project lifecycle and gain experience and proficiencies in the following tasks:
2. Handover from Estimating Department
3. Pre-contract Commencement Meeting with the Project Team.
4. Generate Project Budgets.
5. Prepare cash flow for the project based on the Contract Programme for issuing to the Employers Quantity Surveyor.
6. Re-measure packages as required to identify any quantity errors i.e. over/under measure and to process Tender enquiries accurately and to mitigate contract Risks.
7. Prepare Tender enquiry packages liaising with the Contracts Manager.
8. Create and use Procurement tracker.
9. Complete Subcontract Package tender analysis
10. Attend pre-appointment subcontractor meeting to ensure scope is clearly defined & appoint subcontractor in line with Companies subcontract terms and in line with the main contract conditions.
11. Validate and approve sub-contractors’ interim applications and final submissions including compliance with the Construction Contracts Act.
12. Notify Design Team of any Change Orders/ Variations and track changes on the Change Order/ Variation Schedule.
13. Attend and participate in internal and external meetings.
14. Issue and agree schedule of monthly progress application/ valuation dates.
15. Prepare and submit valuations on a monthly basis and agree with Clients Quantity Surveyor.
16. Prepare monthly Cost Value Reconciliation Reports and Overall Complete Project Reports for review with Commercial Managers/Contracts Managers.
17. Maintain a productive relationship with all the Design Team professionals and Client representatives throughout the project.
18. Ensure the full and proper implementation of the Companies Commercial procedures.
19. Report to Project Surveyor/Senior Project Surveyor/Managing Project Surveyor.
Requirements:
1. Third level qualification in Quantity Surveying & Construction Economics and or an equivalent degree recognised by the Society of Chartered Surveyors of Ireland (SCSI)
2. Proficiency in quantity surveying software and MS Office Suite.
3. Demonstrates commercial awareness.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
