CareerWise Recruitment invites applications for a Food Technologist (NPD) in Cork, Ireland. This permanent role is part of a dynamic team developing branded and private label seafood products for the Irish and European retail market.
The successful candidate will collaborate with Technical, Production, and Market & Sales departments to launch high-quality added-value seafood products. Working with technical and commercial professionals, you'll be involved in innovation projects, ensuring new products are technically safe and legally compliant with correct specifications.
The Role
To succeed in this role, you'll need a culinary arts/food technology/science background and apply your knowledge in a commercial setting.
Key responsibilities:
* Ensure new products meet consumer standards and agreed product specifications.
* Lead research projects from concept to launch, working cross-functionally to deliver innovation and renovation projects.
* Assist on R&D/NPD & EPD projects, implementing Lean NPD techniques and ensuring compliance with stage-gate product development processes.
* Coordinate daily product development processes, including line extension and brand pack-resizing projects.
* Monitor compliance with stage-gate product development processes and implement Lean NPD techniques.
* Develop a clear understanding of business priorities and contribute to delivering guiding principles.
* Liaise with directors, heads of departments, key account retail customers, and deliver product development projects at stakeholder meetings.
Requirements
To excel in this role, you'll need:
* A Master's or Bachelor's degree in Food Technology or Food Science.
* 3-5 years of experience in Product Development, Research & Development, or transferable roles like Quality or Technical Teams.
* Project management and planning skills, with ability to handle varied workloads efficiently.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, with ability to report results concisely.
* Proficiency in Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, and good computer skills.
* Ability to work individually and as part of a large, cross-functional team.
* Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and creative thinking.
* Good knowledge of food quality systems, food legislation, and legal labeling requirements.
* Up-to-date knowledge of product quality optimization, benchmarking, and lean techniques.
