Title: Post-Doctoral Researcher or Experienced Research Assistant Department: RCSI Simulation Centre Tenure: Specified Purpose contract-15 months with possible extension Location: No 26, York Street, St Stephens Green, Dublin 2 Reporting to: Director of Simulation Centre or nominee RCSI SIM works from a €112 million educational facility in Dublin city centre. The ten-storey building, which totals more than 120,000sq ft. in size, contains a state-of-the-art surgical and clinical training suite, including a mock operating theatre and clinical training wards. It also includes a 500-seat auditorium, a library spanning three floors and a sports hall. Position Summary We are seeking an enthusiastic Post-Doctoral Researcher or Experienced Research Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and evaluating an interprofessional Simulation Based training programs and contributing to the growth and sustainability of the initiative. About the project The successful candidate will join the SPIRIT project (Simulation Program for Interprofessional Readiness and Immersive Training). The aim of this project is to create and evaluate a European program of faculty development for health professional educators, focusing on interprofessional simulation. One of the outcomes of this project is the provision of an interactive manual, featuring a recommended teaching format and aligned assessment tools. Core modules will be developed for essential training topics such as establishing psychological safety, simulation design, and feedback, along with elective modules that participants can select to meet their individual training needs. These resources aim to standardise and enhance simulation-based education across Europe. This project is funded by Erasmus+ Programme Key Action 220 and Higher Education Authority (HEA) in collaboration with Humanitas University, Medical University of Wroclaw, Medical University of Vienna. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with the international research team to design and implement standardized interprofessional SBE training programs for educators Manage project operations, ensuring timely completion of milestones and deliverables. Prepare and submit project reports to funding bodies and stakeholders. Lead dissemination activities, including writing academic papers, presenting findings at conferences, and engaging with relevant professional networks. Identify and apply for additional funding opportunities to support project expansion. Undertaking duties assigned by the PIs or her nominee in support of the projects. Co-ordination of own day-to-day work to support the project. Qualifications and Skills: A Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., education, healthcare training, simulation-based training) is preferred; candidates with a Master's degree and significant relevant experience will also be considered. Demonstrated expertise in simulation-based education, interprofessional education, or related fields. Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of academic publications and presentations. Experience with grant writing and securing research funding is highly desirable. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
