Job Purpose:
The Occupational Therapist will manage, plan and deliver Occupational Therapy Services within Lotus Care ensuring a high-quality person-centred service in line with best practice.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Service Delivery
1. To have overall responsibility and be accountable for the standards of practice, and the development of the Occupational Therapy service within Lotus Care.
2. Have responsibility for the planning, management and delivery of Occupational Therapy service in Lotus Care.
3. Maintain and develop professional standards (including quality assurance standards), guided at all times by evidence-based practice, practice-based evidence and relevant research both within and outside the profession.
4. Ensure professional ethics are adhered to in all aspects of service delivery.
5. Govern and support a continuous quality driven service in line with service owner safety and quality developments.
6. Maximize the service owners active involvement in the development of their care pathway.
7. Continuous review of Occupational Therapy caseload management, having due course to safe, effective and efficient service outcomes.
8. Effectively manage their time and caseload to meet changing and developing service needs.
9. Ensure work is undertaken within multidisciplinary team frameworks to support maximum benefit for the service user.
10. Keep abreast of new developments, skills and technology to initiate and respond to changes in the work environment e.g., data analysis, clinical audit, financial control management.
11. Develop and review policies and procedures with regular audit and revision as required, in the light of changing service needs.
12. Anticipate changing demands on service and respond effectively to these changes.
13. Organize, conduct and attend meetings, prepare reports, draft correspondence and participate on committees as requested.
14. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for the co-ordination of training and education for staff in Occupational Therapy. This training can be localized and specific to a particular service owner or group of service owners.
15. Carry out all other duties appropriate to the post as may be assigned from time to time.
Leadership, Governance and Management
1. Develop a shared sense of commitment and participation among staff in the planning and development of the service.
2. Maintain, review and report on the Occupational Therapy risk register.
3. Maintain good collaborative working relationships and communications with appropriate statutory, professional and voluntary company.
4. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with members of the SMT, RSM, PIC and TL and relevant personnel through the service.
5. Promote innovation in service delivery throughout Occupational Therapy services, in the context of future planning for the service.
6. Lead and manage the strategic development of the Occupational Therapy service ensuring efficient, effective and high quality operation of service delivery in line with company policy.
7. Manage KPI's within areas of responsibility to include waiting lists, caseloads, MDT input, equipment, and budgetary compliance.
8. Develop, plan and put in place quality initiatives for the service in consultation with DOS, RSM, QSPD and PIC.
9. Participate and co-operate with all relevant internal or external evaluations of the service.
10. Liaise with all or one of the following; Tusla, HSE, Family Carers, DOS, RSM, QSPD and PIC in relation to issues of complex service user care.
11. Assure own compliance with all company health and safety obligations, including infection control, fire safety, manual handling and all company policies.
12. Assure compliance with HSE policies where these are relevant to Lotus Care.
Qualifications & Experience
Candidates must meet the following criteria relevant to the role:
1. Be registered as an Occupational Therapist by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
2. Have a minimum two years full time post qualification clinical experience.
3. Maintains annual registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
4. Evidence of participation in continued professional development.
5. Holds a full clean driving license and access to a car.
6. Demonstrates competence and capability of undertaking the duties attached to the office.
7. Previous health service management experience.
8. Experience working within the disability sector is an advantage.
9. Have a working knowledge of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Standards as they apply to the role and to intellectual / disability residential, respite and day care services.
10. Excellent communication skills.
11. Experience of service evaluation and planning.
12. Evidence of the ability to achieve results through effective collaboration in a complex environment.

Salary Scale: €50-€60 Depending on Qualification & Experience

Working week
The hours allocated to this post are 40 hours per week with a 7-hour standard working day.
Probation
All employees will be subject to a probationary period of 6 months, with an extension if required to 9 months. This probationary period applies to all employees irrespective of their role or type of role.
Garda Vetting
Lotus Care will carry out Garda vetting on all new employees. An employee will not take up employment with the company until the Garda Vetting process has been completed.
Lotus Care will seek up to two written references from current and previous employers.
Must hold a Full Irish Driving License and be willing to Travel across our Services. We currently have services in Kildare, Laois, Offaly & Westmeath. #J-18808-Ljbffr
