Job Title: Health & Safety Officer
Vickerstock is working in partnership with a national residential construction firm to appoint a Health & Safety Officer. This role offers a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to join the management team and contribute to the company's success.
About the Role:
* Implementation of the company's safety management system, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and industry best practices.
* Collaboration with the Health & Safety Manager to develop and implement risk assessments, safe systems of work, and training programs.
* Monitoring and enforcing the implementation of the health and safety management system across various sites.
* Identification and mitigation of site-specific hazards, ensuring their documentation and resolution.
* Maintenance of accurate records, including site folders and statutory documents.
* Supporting site management in adhering to statutory health and safety requirements.
* Contribution to the development and improvement of safe systems of work for contractors.
* Enforcement of site-specific disciplinary procedures.
* Auditing health and safety performance on site and addressing non-conformities.
* Investigation and analysis of accidents and incidents.
* Identification and delivery of training needs for personnel and contractors.
What You Will Need to Succeed:
* Minimum 4 years' experience in managing safety systems in construction, preferably in a senior or leadership capacity.
* Relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, CIEH, or equivalent).
* Proven ability to manage health and safety on-site, leveraging initiative and resources within the scope of the management system.
* Strong relationship-building skills, enabling collaboration with key stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
* Experience in managing risk and implementing control measures.
* Able to build strong relationships with contractors from diverse backgrounds and trades.
* Capacity to chair and deliver health and safety meetings and presentations.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is preferred but not essential.
