Health & Safety Inspector
Excel are partnering with a dynamic Health & Safety Consultancy in hiring a Health & Safety Inspector to be based on Water projects in Galway. This is a permanent and hybrid position with the successful candidate having over 2 years of experience as a Health and Safety Advisor on active construction or utilities sites and having the option to work from home multiple times per week.
Key Responsibilities for Health & Safety Inspector
* Conduct inspections and audits of contractors, suppliers, and facilities, ensuring compliance with corrective actions.
* Investigate incidents, including high-potential (HIPO) events, and report findings.
* Support the development of safety alerts, toolbox talks, and track safety incidents, working to identify improvement opportunities.
* Provide guidance on health and safety implementation to staff, contractors, and stakeholders.
* Manage key safety metrics and support recognition programs for safe work performance.
* Ensure the effective achievement of safety objectives and KPIs.
* Conduct risk assessments and implement control measures for water and wastewater systems.
* Participate in project design reviews, safety assessments, and pre-handover inspections to address health and safety concerns.
* Lead accident reviews and share lessons learned to improve safety culture.
* Deliver HSQE communications, provide coaching on safety conversations, and assist in HSQE program management.
Requirements for Health & Safety Inspector
* Relevant third-level qualification.
* Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience in HSQE roles within utilities or construction.
* Strong IT skills, especially in MS Excel for reporting and data analysis.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to drive a safety-first culture.
* Full driving license and own transport required.
