Main Objective: To lead and manage Ancoves team of Field Service Technicians delivering repairs and servicing of balers, compactors, and associated waste-handling equipment. The Technical Manager will ensure consistent high standards, provide technical leadership, develop technician capabilities, and support the sales team with expert machinery recommendations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead, motivate, and support Service Technicians in the field.
2. Identify training needs and deliver upskilling programs focused on hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems — with emphasis on baler and compactor machinery.
3. Conduct regular performance reviews, site audits, and quality checks.
4. Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Technical Oversight & Support:
1. Act as the lead technical expert on baler and compactor repairs and diagnostics.
2. Provide field support on complex jobs and assist technicians with troubleshooting.
3. Ensure consistent technical standards across all service activities.
4. Keep technical documentation and fault logs up to date.
5. Oversee technical teams’ accurate completion on all paperwork/electronic data as per company and customer procedures.
Operational Coordination:
1. Collaborate with operations support administrators to ensure SLA compliance.
2. Monitor stock control, parts usage, and van inventories.
3. Work closely with operation support administrators & management to optimize workflows.
4. Ensure full compliance with safety standards and procedures.
5. Work with the sales team to recommend appropriate machinery solutions based on technical knowledge and client needs.
6. Attend client sites as needed to assess suitability of machinery.
7. Provide input on product selection and installation planning.
8. Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades or service agreements.
Compliance & Safety:
1. Ensure full adherence to H&S policies, risk assessments, and method statements.
2. Lead investigations into technical faults, safety incidents, or recurring issues.
3. Promote responsible vehicle use and waste disposal aligned with company procedures.
Requirements:
1. Proven experience in the repair and maintenance of balers and compactors.
2. Strong background in hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
3. Experience supervising or mentoring technical staff.
4. Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
5. Confident in reading circuit diagrams and using test equipment.
6. Recognised qualifications in Engineering, Hydraulics, or Electrical Systems.
7. Experience advising or collaborating with sales or technical sales teams.
8. Familiarity with waste-handling equipment standards and compliance.
9. Knowledge of CRM/job scheduling systems.
