Role/Department:
A career in our Data, Digital, and Enterprise Change (DEC) Audit team will provide you with the opportunity to work on some of the largest and most complex global transformation initiatives at Northern Trust Corporation. You will collaborate with a team whose focus is on evaluating complex subject matter across data governance and management, digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, and large and complex programs. Our business units and corporate functions look to us to leverage our prior experience and skillset to bring insight, best practices and help them successfully navigate their complex transformation journeys.
Our DEC team is growing and comprises a truly international team, with a wealth of experience in data governance and management, new and emerging technology risk management, and program and project delivery and risk management. Based on our success in the organization, we are looking to expand our team's footprint and support Audit Services rapidly growing demand on business units and corporate functions initiatives.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
* Support the audit engagement team by performing test of design and operational effectiveness of controls. Audit engagements may include assessment of complex transformation programs/projects, data governance and management, emerging technologies (e.g., artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, digital assets, etc).
* Identifies operational and technology risks and controls within processes reviewed.
* Applies analytical skills to review information received and independently assess potential control weaknesses. Participates in audit meetings with auditees throughout the audit engagement and continuous monitoring if involved and communicates with partners at all levels.
* Prepares high quality standard working papers from planning, testing, and reporting in accordance with Northern Trust Internal Audit Methodology.
* Responsible for staying current on new and emerging technologies and regulations.
* Performs special projects and issue validation with minimal guidance as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
The successful candidate will benefit from having:
* A College or University degree and auditing and/or technology experience in a financial institution or similar public accounting experience in the financial services industry is preferred.
* A self-starter that demonstrates the ability to lead through caring and to drive all aspects of the work through to completion with strong work ethic is needed.
* Experience in understanding, defining, and evaluating IT risks and controls including data governance and management and exposure to program management and/or assurance of large transformation programs and projects.
* Ability to quickly understand new concepts including core project management process areas (i.e., IT governance, quality assurance, and SDLC) and emerging technologies.
* Exceptional commitment to providing excellent service, by building and maintaining productive relationships with Audit Services teams, Business Units and Corporate Functions.
* Strong analytical, problem solving and multitasking, and project management skills. Ability to develop concise and impactful audit reports.
* Flexibility, multi-tasking, creative thinking, good business judgment skills are required to meet strict deadlines.
* Must be a team player and able to work under pressure during peak periods.
* Interest in pursuing professional certifications (e.g., CISA, Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)).
