Purpose of Post:
The purpose of this Clinical Nurse Specialist Infection Prevention and Control post is to optimize patient/resident care through the prevention, surveillance, investigation, liaison, education, research, and control of healthcare-acquired infection (HCAI). Work as part of the Infection Prevention and Control Team in line with the Strategy for Control of Antimicrobial Resistance in Ireland.

The post holder’s practice is based on the five core concepts of Clinical Nurse Specialist Infection Prevention and Control role as defined by the NCNM 4th edition (2008) to fulfil the role. The concepts are:
