Occupational Therapist The Occupational Therapist will work as part of a multidisciplinary Childrens Disability Team to provide comprehensive assessment, intervention, and support services for children with disabilities and their families.
The role involves working with children with a range of complex needs, supporting their participation in daily activities at home, school, and in the community.
This is based in South Dublin.
Key Responsibilities of Occupational Therapist Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments of children with physical, sensory, and developmental disabilities.
Develop and implement individualised intervention plans in collaboration with families and the multidisciplinary team.
Use evidence-based practice to support childrens functional development in areas such as motor skills, sensory processing, play, self-care, and school readiness.
Work closely with families to provide education, training, and strategies for home and community settings.
Liaise with schools, early intervention services, and other relevant professionals to promote inclusion and participation.
Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation in line with professional and organisational standards.
Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and service planning.
Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the Childrens Disability Services.
Engage in professional development and supervision to maintain and enhance clinical skills.
Requirements of Occupational Therapist BSc/MSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent qualification recognised by CORU.
Registration with CORU as an Occupational Therapist.
Experience working with children with disabilities in a clinical, educational, or community setting.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in childrens disability services.
Strong assessment, intervention, and report-writing skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Experience & Skills: Postgraduate experience in paediatrics or childrens disability services.
Training in sensory integration, assistive technology, or other relevant areas.
Experience delivering group programmes for children and families.
Familiarity with Family-Centred Practice and the Progressing Disability Services (PDS) model.
