The Team
The People and Capability Office has overall responsibility for crafting and implementing a vision for organisational transformation, driving initiatives that support EirGrid strategic goals in people management, internal communications, and process enhancement. The People and Capability Office plays a pivotal role in shaping the next phase of EirGrid's evolution, facilitating cultural change, and building and enabling a high-performance environment. From talent development to employee engagement, the People and Capability Office leads the charge in creating a motivated workforce and delivering best-practice HR policies and solutions.
The Talent Development function is responsible for leading the development of the overall Talent Development Strategy for EirGrid, including talent acquisition, organisational development, talent mobility and learning & development, career/succession planning, leadership development and executive coaching services.
Job Purpose
The Learning & Talent Development Lead will work collaboratively with HR and senior business leaders to identify and understand key learning and development needs and priorities; and will be responsible for continually reviewing and updating our leadership, management and competency development portfolios. You will champion learning and development within the business to create an agile learning environment where employees and managers learn together to discover and develop their potential.
Reporting to the Head of Talent Development, the role holder will have specific responsibility for building leadership capability across the EirGrid Group and for creating an effective talent pipeline to meet the future needs of the company, balancing the requirement to build internal skills with the need to acquire key talent from the external market. Success will be measured through objective assessment of the strength and depth of the EirGrid Group talent pipeline and succession pool, and of the organisational capability to deliver the strategy. Creativity and innovation is required along with excellent communication and influencing skills, strong project management and decision making competence.
Key Responsibilities
* Consult and collaborate with HR business partners and senior leaders on their learning, development, coaching, and talent priorities; deliver initiatives that will help grow our talent and improve performance.
* Manage the leadership development and succession planning processes for the group, overseeing the plans to create a future talent pipeline, the “bench strength”, and to measure the effectiveness of same.
* Develop the programmes to build leadership capability at all levels in the company to deliver on the strategy including the development of specific interventions for key talent.
* Partnering with our Learning & Development partner, develop the programmes to build leadership capability at all levels in the company to deliver on the strategy.
* Develop and implement a strategic, multi-year Learning and Talent Management roadmap in conjunction with senior leaders.
* Lead the overall skills development programme for the group, measuring its effectiveness and introducing new solutions to meet future needs.
* Develop and implement best practice strategic frameworks for identifying, retaining and managing key talent.
* Design and manage customized individual development plans for senior leaders and key successors to enhance engagement and growth.
* Proactively consult and diagnose business needs/performance gaps to identify learning solution opportunities.
* Develop career paths for employees, focusing on both technical and soft skills to support career progression and support management in developing personalised development plans.
* Manage the group learning programmes (Onboarding, Graduate, General Skills, Emerging Leader, Leadership etc) for the company to ensure that the appropriate development interventions are delivered; continuously refine and refresh to meet changing business needs.
* Design and run specific leadership development events and interventions on behalf of the management team.
* Source and manage relationships with external best practice leadership development and learning and development providers, ensuring that programmes meet organisational standards and complement internal learning initiatives.
* Report on the impact of learning initiatives to senior leadership and continuously improve programs based on feedback and performance data.
* Develop and coach line managers to ensure that they understand their roles in acquiring and managing talent on behalf of the company.
* Leverage e-learning platforms for scalable training and track employee progress effectively.
* Stay abreast of the latest trends and innovations in leadership development and talent management, incorporating best practices into program design and deployment.
* Facilitate the on-going development of aspects of the HR strategy, policies and plans to meet the changing needs of the business and to create a high performing organisation.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Relevant HR degree, business degree or third level qualification or CIPD accreditation.
* Experienced L&D professional with expertise in learning, leadership development, and talent management.
* Strategic thinker, able to translate complex strategic concepts into operational reality.
* Excellent facilitation, communications, interpersonal and presentation skills.
* Strong collaboration skills and experience with an ability to develop networks and relationships in the company and the industry.
* Ability to challenge effectively at all levels and to lead change through from concept to effective execution.
* Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances, demonstrate resilience and be comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity.
