Role Overview
The Tender Engineer plays a key role in developing and managing bids for engineering projects. Responsibilities include initial design, specification analysis, and preparation of competitive proposals. The role involves close collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure accurate, cost-effective solutions that align with client expectations. Key Responsibilities
1. Bid and Proposal Development
* Analyze tender documents to identify technical and commercial requirements.
* Coordinate with internal departments to collect relevant data and insights.
* Develop clear and comprehensive tender packages, including technical documentation, pricing, and project timelines.
* Ensure all submissions meet compliance, regulatory, and client standards.
2. Cost Analysis
* Create cost estimates by evaluating materials, labor, equipment, and other resources.
* Assess financial and production feasibility of proposals.
* Identify risks and collaborate on mitigation strategies to balance costs and efficiency.
3. Collaboration and Communication
* Work closely with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to align proposals with operational capabilities.
* Communicate with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather information and resolve queries.
* Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to ensure thorough understanding of project requirements.
* Effectively transition successful bids to project execution teams, highlighting key milestones, risks, and non-standard conditions.
4. Documentation and Reporting
* Prepare and organize tender documents for timely submission.
* Maintain a systematic archive of proposals and related correspondence for future reference.
5. Technical and Client Support
* Provide technical input during the evaluation and negotiation stages.
* Respond to post-bid clarifications and support contract finalization.
6. Market Insights
* Research industry trends, competitor activities, and new opportunities to inform bidding strategies.
* Analyze past tender outcomes to enhance future performance.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
* 3–5 years of relevant experience in engineering or project-based roles, ideally within a design or manufacturing environment.
Technical Expertise
* Solid understanding of engineering concepts and electrical distribution systems.
* Familiarity with cost estimation and tender preparation tools.
* Knowledge of project management methodologies is an advantage.
