Job Description:
1. As the primary regional field service engineer, ensure customer needs are met using appropriate resources
2. Conduct on-site installation of complex equipment and follow testing procedures to ensure proper working order
3. Conduct on-site scheduled planned maintenance visits
4. Provide analysis and repair support for customers and other field service personnel
5. Cultivate and develop positive working relationships with customers, system users and company personnel
6. Successfully complete technical training, as required; identify and effectively complete specialist training based on microscopes in the region
7. Proactively seek out additional learning opportunities both inside and outside of the region
8. Work informally with an applications engineer or attend an applications course to gain advanced knowledge
9. Travel, often on short notice, to customer sites to resolve problems or support other field service personnel
10. Complete and submit field service reports
11. Be able to perform PM on assigned tools
12. Partner with colleagues to acquire technical guidance needed to problem-solve systems solutions
13. Provide training for customers and users on system maintenance
14. Make yourself available to train and mentor new field service engineers
15. Provide feedback to product quality teams
16. Provide appropriate input in writing updating and correcting various Thermo Fisher system documentation
17. Provide recommendations for various reports including identifying and isolating unique problems with system
18. Act as a subject expert and resource for training
Requirements:
1. This position is ideal for an experienced service engineer wanting to be involved with a dynamic team and exposed to a constant variety of customer application areas.
2. Typically requires a University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in electronic system troubleshooting
3. Typically requires approximately 10 years of hands on technical experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing and calibrating complex analysis tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB or similar systems.
4. Must have a thorough understanding and extensive experience troubleshooting and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems.
5. Ability to partner effectively with customers
6. Excellent interpersonal communication skills; must have a professional working proficiency in English
7. Confirmed ability to troubleshoot complex systems and subsystems down to component level
8. Literate in MS DOS and Windows software environments
9. Able to read and interpret schematics
10. Familiar with UHV phenomenon and technology
11. Must have ability to obtain a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as required
12. Must possess a valid, clean driver’s license
13. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 22 kg (50 lbs)
