Ayrton Group are seeking an on-site Health and Safety Officer for a residential construction project in Douglas, Co. Cork.
The Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for advising on overall compliance in matters of Health & Safety in accordance with client policies and relevant statutory provisions. The HSO must lead by example and serve as a role model in mobilising the team and ensuring the highest standards of Health & Safety are adopted on-site.
This is an initial 6-month contract role with the potential for extension, commencing as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conducting regular, formal site audits and carrying out inspections as directed in the Safety Management System.
2. Ensuring that a record of statutory inspections is kept for all activities and plant equipment.
3. Advising and instructing on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.).
4. Assisting Site Management in drafting and communicating Method Statements.
5. Reviewing existing policies and measures and updating according to legislation.
6. Inspecting premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment).
7. Performing incident reporting and near misses and follow up actions, identifying root causes and implementing changes to prevent reoccurrences.
8. Reviewing subcontractors Safety Statements and Safety Compliance.
9. Reviewing Safe Work Plans for the tasks on site.
10. Management of Health & Safety paperwork on-site.
11. Managing and recommending PPE for on-site employees.
12. Delivering Health & Safety induction programmes for new on-site employees and contractors.
13. Delivering Toolbox Talks as required.
Key Requirements:
1. Recognised qualification in Health and Safety required.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in an on-site HSO position preferred.
3. Residential construction experience is preferred.
4. Safe Pass and Manual Handling required.
5. Ability to work on own initiative and be innovative.
6. Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
7. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
8. You must be legally permitted to live and work in Ireland.
