Our client, a key public sector organization, is seeking a Fleet & Equipment Manager to oversee the efficient operation of fleet and engineering workshops across multiple locations.
This is a strategic role responsible for the management, servicing, and repair of vehicles and operational equipment, ensuring that vital public services are always supported.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the lifecycle of fleet vehicles and equipment from acquisition to disposal.
* Oversee vehicle maintenance, ensuring compliance with legal standards (PSV, MOT, LOLER).
* Implement preventative and reactive maintenance strategies for maximum fleet availability.
* Manage staff across regional workshops, ensuring efficient use of resources and high-quality service delivery.
* Lead stock management processes, ensuring the availability of critical parts and tools.
* Act as a key contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding fleet and equipment issues.
* Contribute to contract and financial management, ensuring budgets are adhered to and value for money is achieved.
* Participate in the Regional Duty Officer Standby Rota, providing 24/7 operational support.
Key Requirements:
* Qualifications: HND in a relevant discipline or Level 3 trade qualification (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic).
* Experience: Minimum of 2 years at management level in an engineering workshop or 3 years of relevant trade experience.
* Strong planning, scheduling, and communication skills.
* Proficient in using management information systems and Microsoft Office applications.
* Ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, and manage teams across multiple locations.
