Regional Communications Associate Director

We are hiring a Regional Communications Associate Director (based in AbbVie North Dublin). You will lead regional communications for the Manufacturing, Engineering & Contracting (ME&C) organisation – an exciting and dynamic global function which plays a pivotal role in the manufacturing of medicines for patients around the world, as part of AbbVie’s Global Operations organisation.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping and delivering internal and external communication strategies for a specific region within the ME&C network.
The Regional Communications Lead will report to the Director of ME&C Communications and will support the ME&C Regional Vice President, partner with relevant site leaders and their teams, and collaborate with Global Operations Communications colleagues and the extended communicator network to drive best-in-class communications activities that enable AbbVie’s success.

Responsibilities:
* Provide strategic communications leadership, support and counsel to the ME&C VP of the region – including to the sites within the region.
* Develop and implement regional communication strategies aligned with the global ME&C strategy and anchored in Operations goals and objectives.
* Work closely with senior leaders to ensure communication strategies support business objectives.
* Tailor global initiatives to suit regional needs and audiences.
* Serve as the regional spokesperson, handling media inquiries, interviews, and press engagements.
* Monitor media coverage and report on regional communication metrics.
* Oversee and manage internal communications within the region, ensuring alignment with global messaging.
* Craft internal communications materials, announcements and updates to keep employees informed about key developments.
* Act as the regional point of contact for crisis communications, working closely with the global communications team to manage and mitigate crises.
* Create and localize content for various communication channels, including social media, newsletters, websites, and press materials.
Qualifications:
* 10+ years’ experience in a similar role.
* Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
* Experience with content management platforms and design tools, as well as working with external developers and vendors.
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Experience with crisis communication and media training.
* Strong communication skills – written and verbal, with exceptional attention to detail.
* Confident operating in an international context.
* Ability to think strategically and creatively.
* Detail-oriented, with a keen eye for design.
* Strong project management and multitasking abilities, managing multiple, often tight deadlines.
* The role will require travel within the region to attend meetings, events, and media engagements.
