We are currently recruiting a skilled and solutions-oriented Network Engineer to join a newly established internal IT function for a major Irish brand undergoing a significant technology transformation. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and optimising a complex multi-site network infrastructure that supports enterprise-wide operations across manufacturing, retail, and office locations.
Reporting to the IT Transformation Manager, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with external service providers and internal stakeholders to ensure secure, high-performance connectivity across the organisation's 80+ sites.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with network and security service providers to plan, configure, and implement network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls)
* Oversee performance monitoring, fault resolution, and capacity planning for LAN, WAN, wireless, and voice networks
* Enforce security policies and collaborate with internal security teams to ensure compliance with standards and regulations
* Ensure high availability and redundancy through robust design, failover strategies, and disaster recovery plans
* Evaluate and manage the performance of third-party managed network service providers against agreed SLAs
* Act as a technical escalation point for network incidents and outages
* Maintain up-to-date documentation of all network configurations and environments
* Support new business initiatives and IT projects with appropriate network planning and implementation
* Contribute to the development of network strategy and infrastructure roadmap
Candidate Profile
* Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in network engineering or enterprise-level network support
* Strong expertise across WAN, LAN, wireless, network security, and remote access technologies
* Hands-on experience with firewall, switching, and routing solutions from multiple vendors
* Track record working with managed service providers in a hybrid or outsourced IT environment
* Knowledge of network performance monitoring, optimisation tools, and disaster recovery frameworks
* Industry certifications such as CCNP or equivalent are highly desirable
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Collaborative and customer-focused mindset with a strong sense of ownership
