Position: Innovation Broker (Agricultural Role)
The Organisation, Animal Health Ireland, is a not-for-profit public-private partnership tasked with controlling livestock diseases not subject to international regulation. Its objective is to improve the profitability and productivity of the animal agriculture sector.
Description
Main Responsibilities:
* Providing support in several activities of the Pig Health Check (PHC) programme under the direction of the PHC Programme Manager.
* Liaising with cross-industry Implementation Groups overseeing the delivery of major programmes and technical working groups.
Project Focus: TAILWARDS Project - Irish pig sector stakeholders moving together towards raising pigs with intact tails. This collaboration involves Teagasc, Animal Health Ireland, and the Irish Farmers Association (IFA).
Key Tasks:
* Leading the role of an Innovation Broker for PRRS eradication/control task.
* Contributing to other tasks within the project, such as overstocking feedback task.
Candidate Requirements:
* Essential skills include effective teamwork, flexibility, technical writing ability, knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, project management, analytical thinking, report writing, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
* Competence in writing technical materials and farming articles is also required.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Desirable experience within the Irish pig industry.
* Knowledge and experience of epidemiological concepts of disease control.
Education and Experience:
* Candidates must hold a first or upper second-class honours degree or M.Sc. in an appropriate discipline (Veterinary Science, Animal or Agricultural Science, or similar).
* Proficiency in both written and spoken English is essential.

Job Location: The AHI office is based in Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim, with a preference for the post to be based there as well.
