DISABILITY SERVICE SUPPORTED LIVING, GLANMIRE JAN 2025
Support Worker (HCA or SCW): Glanmire, Cork city
The Company: Barrog Healthcare is a small, private health and social care provider based in Cork and Dublin with services nationwide providing residential care and day packages to enable people who need support across the areas of mental health, disability, aftercare, transitional and mainstream social care. We pride ourselves on supporting and championing both our service users and staff.
Purpose of Role: To provide a range of services to individuals with low-level intellectual disabilities, supporting clients to maintain their own tenancy and independence in the community.
Salary: Support Workers with Full Driver's License - €14.50 to €18.00; Social Care Workers - €16.00 to €19.86 (new entrants typically start at the lowest entry point).
Job Type: Part time/Full Time
Shifts Available: Example shifts below:
1. Monday - Friday 4pm - 10am (Sleep over shift, 10 working hours + sleep over rate €108)
2. Saturday - Sunday 12pm - 10am (Sleep over shift, 14 working hours + sleep over rate €108)
Reporting Relationship: This post will report to the Disability Co-ordinator.
Job Title: Support Worker (HCA) or Social Care Worker dependent on qualifications.

Vetting: All applicants will be subject to reference checks, Garda Vetting, and a request to provide security clearance from any country in which they resided for more than 6 months after their 16th birthday.
Minimum Requirements:
* Permission to work in Ireland.
* Fluent spoken and written English language skills.
* For Support Worker roles: a minimum of a QQI Level 5 major award (8 components/modules) in Health or Social Care or equivalent is required OR a commitment to complete the major award if some components/modules are already completed.
* For Social Care Worker roles: a minimum of a B.A. in Social Care, QQI Level 7 PLUS registration as a Social Care Worker with CORU by Nov 2025 is required OR a sufficiently relevant qualification in Social Care or a related field along with registration as a Social Care Worker with CORU by Nov 2025.
* Full clean driver's license valid for driving in Ireland.
* Comfortable working with technology required for the role; Email, Apps.
* Ability to maintain records and reports in relation to service and client activity.
* An understanding of the responsibilities of support workers under Safeguarding guidelines.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:
* Support service users with low-level intellectual disabilities.
* Work in a house, supporting 4-5 clients who will be attending structured activities by day (e.g., day service/courses).
* Encourage service users' independence, supporting budgeting/household chores reminders/attending day service.
* Ensure service users are supported to make sense of their environment, learn new skills and maximize their independence.
* Support individuals to live a meaningful life, focusing on equal citizenship.
* Facilitate active participation and integration into the community.
* Act as an advocate for clients.
* Promote participation of clients in the formulation and execution of their goal planning.
* Manage challenging behaviours using a positive behaviour support plan.
* Provide reports on client activities to management.
* Attend staff meetings and contribute constructively to the ongoing progression/implementation of the care plan.
* Attend training and engage in own professional development.
* Ensure that a safe home environment is maintained.
* Support people with dignity and respect.
