Job Title: Senior Instructional Designer
Reports to: ICE Learning Project Lead
Duration: 6 months
ROLE PURPOSE
Our team has an exciting opportunity available for an Instructional Designer / Content Designer / Learning Content Developer (or similar) to join us for 6 months on a specific purpose project.
The ideal candidate should have a background and experience in developing learning curricula and materials across a variety of formats (i.e., print, online, and assessments) – preferably within a large matrixed organization.
Within a globally distributed sales and marketing team, they will be expected to collaborate on the project with SMEs and Key Stakeholders. Working with these groups, they will need to surface, analyze and implement learning needs, goals, objectives, outcomes, assessment criteria and methods.
The candidate will need to be knowledgeable in learning theory and experienced in the application of learning models and processes (e.g., ADDIE, VARK, etc.). They will also need to recognize how and when to be pragmatic and flexible in the design and delivery of learning solutions in the context of large change initiatives and/or a workforce transformation process.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Lead and act as first point of contact for all project related Instructional Design (ID) targets, objectives, tasks and activities.
2. Support other project leadership roles in the wider management of resources, targets, objectives, and tasks.
3. Coordinate with SMEs, key stakeholders, and the wider team to surface the business needs/problems; identify resulting learning needs, learning participants’ profiles, and any learning evaluation / assessment methods and criteria to implement as part of any subsequent learning solutions.
4. Work with the SMEs, Key Stakeholders, and wider team to coordinate the learning solution design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases.
5. Work in partnership with Multimedia Developers in the design and development of storyboards, simulations, e-learning, and other types of learning content/resources.
6. Work in partnership with training delivery experts (e.g., coaches / facilitators) in the development of in-room training, live-online training, physical and printable learning content/resources.
7. Drive best practices and process improvements within the project and across the wider team and organization.
8. Ensure real / case studies are embedded in the training resources and program (for example, commercial operations field force interactions).
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS / MEASURES OF SUCCESS
1. Ensure project ID tasks and objectives are identified, stored, documented, coordinated, and tracked effectively.
2. Ensure the design, deployment and implementation of Learning Solutions are on time and within the scope agreed with project leadership, SMEs, and/or Key Stakeholders.
3. Effective and proactive management of multiple tasks and activities.
4. Effectively communicate with key stakeholders at all levels.
5. Effectively manage feedback from key stakeholders at all levels.
JOB DIMENSION
Complexity: Medium; Integrated review and alignment across at least 4 global projects with experience managing programs with 2+ concurrent projects and multiple senior stakeholders.
Business Impact: Recognized as a learning SME in the service line identified. High; training comprehension is a critical success factor and mandatory in a regulated environment. Will impact uptake of systems with our customers.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
1. 3+ years Instructional/Content Design experience (with/within a similar type of large matrixed style organization).
2. Otherwise, 5+ years Instructional/Content Design experience.
3. Proven experience working remotely and in on-site locations is crucial.
4. Experienced at conducting learning needs analysis and implementing subsequent learning solutions and methods of assessment.
5. Thorough experience designing and implementing online and printable learning resources.
6. Experience in designing and implementing online learning assessments.
7. Thorough experience with learning tools, applications and standards, for example, Microsoft Office (PowerPoint & Word), HTML, SCORM, and VLEs/LMSs.
