Job Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Consumer Foods team for a Maintenance Manager. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with our Maintenance Manager, who will provide mentorship and guidance during an initial transition period. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Maintenance Manager will have full responsibility for all engineering on site, ensuring efficient operation of the maintenance function, including day-to-day breakdown maintenance, planning preventative maintenance, and organizing the maintenance team to achieve tasks within defined time scales, minimizing costs and maximizing efficiencies while ensuring Food Safety and Health and Safety standards are upheld.
Key responsibilities:
1. Ensure there is a system in place for a structured maintenance program of all machinery, tooling, and utilities, and that preventative maintenance schedules are followed and completed.
2. Ensure the training and development program for Maintenance/Electrical Engineers and Apprentices is implemented effectively.
3. Support the rollout of skills development programs in the Engineering department.
4. Weekly reporting on team KPIs, identifying and addressing key issues.
5. Provision of technical support and general maintenance of the site.
6. Identifying process improvement opportunities to improve machine availability and efficiency.
7. To ensure continuous operation of all factory utility systems.
8. Ensure capital investment programs within the engineering function are fully researched and delivered on time and within budget.
9. Manage the engineering department operating expense budget and ensure high standards of management regarding spare parts and inventory.
10. Adhere to Company policies and procedures, ensuring health and safety practices are followed.
11. Plan, coordinate, and monitor workplace activities for Maintenance/Electrical Engineers and Apprentices.
12. Develop systems to control stock.
The ideal candidate will:
* Be a time-served maintenance engineer with at least 3 years of management experience within a manufacturing environment.
* Hold an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
* Have lean manufacturing experience.
* Possess relevant manufacturing/engineering experience, ideally in the dairy/food sector.
* Have experience managing a site budget.
* Exhibit excellent leadership and management skills.
* Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
* Be able to manage a variety of cross-functional team members.
* Be competent in problem-solving, team building, planning, and decision making.
* Be commercially aware.
* Hold a full driving license.
