Mater Private Network have an exciting job opportunity for a Permanent IT Systems Engineer to join our Mater Private Network Team.
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior IT Systems Engineer to lead and support system upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure enhancements in a healthcare environment. This role ensures the reliability, security, and efficiency of critical IT systems, including Electronic Health Records (EHR), clinical applications, servers, and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in healthcare IT infrastructure, regulatory compliance (JCI, HIQA), and IT service management best practices.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, healthcare IT infrastructure, and system upgrades.
* Strong expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
* Experience managing EHR and clinical application upgrades (Epic, Cerner, Meditech preferred).
* In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations (HIQA/JCI) and cybersecurity best practices.
* Strong troubleshooting, automation, and scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
* ITIL, MCSE, VMware, or cloud certifications preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with healthcare network infrastructure, including VLANs, firewalls, and medical device connectivity.
* Familiarity with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, SCCM) for patching and updates.
* Project management skills (PMP, Agile certifications a plus).
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, coordinate, and execute system upgrades, patches, and migrations for servers, storage, and network infrastructure.
* Ensure minimal disruption to clinical and administrative operations during upgrade processes.
* Work with vendors and internal teams to manage EHR and other healthcare system upgrades.
* Develop upgrade roadmaps to maintain system security, compliance, and performance.
* Conduct thorough testing, validation, and risk assessments before deployment.
Systems Administration & Support:
* Administer, monitor, and optimize Windows servers, virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud environments.
* Ensure high availability and redundancy of mission-critical healthcare systems.
* Provide Level 3 support for escalated issues and collaborate with the service desk team for resolution.
* Develop and maintain disaster recovery (DR) plans and participate in business continuity exercises.
Security & Compliance:
* Implement security best practices for system upgrades, ensuring JCA/HIQA compliance and protection of patient data.
* Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to mitigate risks associated with outdated software and vulnerabilities.
* Maintain compliance with industry standards for healthcare IT infrastructure.
* Lead cross-functional projects related to infrastructure modernization, system integrations, and cloud migrations.
* Work closely with clinical IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure seamless interoperability.
* Document upgrade procedures, system configurations, and best practices for knowledge sharing.
* Train IT staff on new technologies and upgrade-related changes.
* Flexible/on-site role in a hospital or healthcare IT setting.
* May require after-hours work for system upgrades and emergency support
