The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) will provide strategic leadership, operating in accordance with the policies of the HSE and in collaboration with other professionals and service managers in achieving service goals.
The Assistant Director of Nursing has a pivotal role in creating the vision and culture for the service.
S/he has overarching responsibility for service planning, co-ordinating, and managing activity and resources and will lead in the implementation of change.
S/he will empower staff to support young people and their families to continue to exercise choice and autonomy in reaching their full potential and recovery.
The purpose of this post is to enhance the senior nursing management team Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services, manage projects such as the re-development and expansion of the Unit and demonstrate leadership in nursing practice across Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services.
This ADON post will also have a pivotal role in ensuring the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service will have a continuous quality improvement programme in place aimed at achieving excellence in terms of the Mental Health Commissions Rules and Regulations and Codes of Practice as measured against the Judgment Support Framework and the Mental Health Inspection processes.
The ADON will have responsibility for Mental Health Act Compliance and should the scope of the Mental Health Commission regulatory responsibility expand they will have operational management for designated services.
