Senior Engineer – Generic - Infrastructure (E2025046)
We are the people behind Ireland’s electricity grid. We operate the power system with world leading levels of variable asynchronous renewable generation, ensuring that everyone has power when they need it. But that’s not all, we are now transforming the power system for future generations.
And that’s just the beginning of our story. We have a critical purpose. That purpose is to transform the power system to enable our society to reduce our carbon emissions and meet our climate change and net zero ambitions.
Be part of the transformation!
The Opportunity
We now seeking Senior Engineers to join our Engineering & Asset Management (E&AM) and Offshore Delivery Functions.
The successful candidates will perform engineering assignments to ensure that business priorities are met. The client engineering function is responsible for undertaking project design reviews/site inspections on both contestable and non-contestable transmission projects to ensure that projects are developed in accordance with EirGrid functional specification standards. Delivery of these projects is required to meet key departmental and company objectives.
The Team
The Engineering & Asset Management is responsible for undertaking four key roles; asset management, technical authority, onshore engineering and offshore engineering. The team is responsible for setting the technical engineering policies and standards to be used for transmission infrastructure, monitoring compliance during design and construction and for ensuring asset integrity and ensuring uninterrupted power system functionality.
The Offshore Delivery Team are responsible for the successful delivery of large-scale strategic offshore infrastructure projects which is central to the achievement of our transition to a low carbon future. Offshore Phase 2 will see up to 900MW of electricity supplied from wind farms off Ireland’s south coast.
The Engineering and Asset Management and Offshore Delivery are the areas within EirGrid which facilitates that role through the development of technical standards and functional specifications for all plant to be connected to the transmission system and the development of new and innovative technologies and methodologies.
In addition, these areas are responsible for ensuring that EirGrid’s requirements are incorporated in project design and construction whether the works are carried out by ESB Networks or by third parties.
