Overview of role:
The Quality & Continuous Improvement Manager will be responsible for leading the quality function within UPMC Aut Even Hospital and will work closely with the wider UPMC Quality function and management team. The candidate will lead and support management with accreditation within the hospital and will always promote a culture of continuous improvement. This position is responsible for contributing to hospital-wide and departmental quality initiatives, performing the assessment and analysis of operations and processes. Additionally, the Quality & Continuous Improvement Manager works collaboratively with staff and managers to promote, design, and implement improvements and innovations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Work in collaboration with the General Manager, Director of Nursing and Director of Quality & Patient Safety in the development of the hospital quality improvement/quality assurance programme.
2. Identify and coordinate agreed quality improvement initiatives.
3. Lead and input into the design of the structure and framework to support the hospital quality improvement programme to achieve and maintain compliance with Accreditation standards.
4. Assure application of a tracking method to monitor progress towards goals by collecting accurate, timely data to display the quality, cost, and service outcomes.
5. Effectively communicate improvements that are made to work teams, staff, managers, and administrators throughout the organisation.
6. Be accountable for the quality of the service provided, including customer service and technical aspects.
7. Support the Management team in the implementation of initiatives aimed at ongoing service development and improvement.
8. Coordinate and support the development and implementation of operational policies, protocols, and guidelines.
9. Coordinate and support quality improvement projects within teams.
10. Manage day-to-day communications with the team(s) to ensure groups receive the necessary support to work effectively.
11. Ensure that the measurement and analysis of data is incorporated into all quality improvement projects.
12. Review incidents/near-misses reported by hospital staff and ensure that appropriate follow-up occurs and action plans are put in place.

4. Provide support supervision and professional development of appropriate staff.
5. Engage in performance review processes including personal development planning.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Undergraduate degree with a focus on Quality.
2. At least 3 years’ experience in a comparable role.
3. Hospital/Clinical experience highly advantageous.
4. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills.
5. Demonstrate a high level of knowledge of developments within healthcare quality.
6. In-depth knowledge of applying standards to practice and quality improvement processes.
7. Experience in the application of knowledge on standardisation to practice/process.
8. Excellent IT skills: MS Office skills including MS Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
