Summary: A Clerk of Works is required for a healthcare project based in Cork. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing the projects to ensure they meet quality standards, adhere to specifications, and comply with regulations. Responsibilities: Conduct regular inspections of construction work to ensure compliance with design specifications, drawings, and quality standards. Identify and report any deviations, defects, or issues in construction activities. Maintain detailed records of daily site activities, including progress reports, inspections, and any non-compliance issues. Review and ensure the accuracy of contractor's documents, such as method statements and quality control plans. Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and other relevant standards. Verify that contractors are following approved construction plans and specifications. Act as a liaison between contractors, subcontractors, project managers, and other stakeholders. Communicate effectively with the project team to address issues, provide updates, and ensure a smooth flow of information. Witness and verify material testing, inspections, and commissioning activities. Ensure that construction materials meet specified standards and are used appropriately. Provide regular progress reports to project managers, highlighting milestones achieved and potential delays. Collaborate with project teams to develop solutions for any issues that may arise during construction. Monitor and enforce health and safety regulations on the construction site. Report and address any unsafe practices or conditions promptly. Keep track of construction costs related to materials, labour, and equipment. Report any potential cost overruns or deviations from the project budget. Oversee the completion of project closeout procedures, including final inspections, as-built documentation, and handover to the client. Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability requirements. Qualifications & Experience: A degree in engineering or architecture, or a National Certificate/National Diploma in Construction Studies or Civil Engineering; or possess a full course certificate in building issued by the Technical Instruction Branch of the Department of Education, or have had satisfactory supervisory experience of building work, or have had completed a recognised building trade apprenticeship including relevant certificates as to training or qualifications. Must have at minimum of seven years relevant experience working in a COW/ Site supervisory capacity. Must be competent in all current Health and Safety requirements in relation to construction works and must hold at minimum a Safe Pass card. Clerk of Works must have a full clean driving licence and access to own transport. Clerk of Works must have excellent IT skills including CAD, Word, Outlook, Excel and a satisfactory knowledge of the surveying, levelling and setting out of works. The candidate must have experience in at least one healthcare related project. The project should be similar in nature, scale and complexity to the services required: net construction value >€20m; a gross floor area >3, delivered on a live acute hospital campus and that involves the fit-out of operating theatres.
