Hours of work: Seasonal 24 February to 31 October 2025
Days: 4 days, Friday to Monday, hours of work 10am – 6pm, with some occasional events / evenings as required. This position is part time, fixed term 24 February – 31 October 2025.
Salary: €29,500 pro-rata for the season
Purpose of post:
Lismore Castle Arts is looking for an experienced Visitor Experience Supervisor to join the Visitor Experience team for the 2025 season. As a highly motivated and organised individual, the Visitor Experience Supervisor will assist in all aspects of the Visitor Experience, including welcoming guests and visitors to the Gardens and Gallery, and operate across various staff locations such as the entrance desk, café, shop and three separate galleries to support the team in their daily tasks.
This role includes ensuring the highest level of operational standards in all aspects of Visitor Experience. Good communication skills, eye for detail, and an ability to motivate the team to achieve their best are therefore a must. Tasks include light administrative work, such as drafting rotas, stock keeping and till administration. The Supervisor will report to and work closely together with the Operations Manager and Curator, and will be expected to uphold high standards of operation in their absence. Weekend availability is therefore essential, with the role based Friday-Monday, and occasional evenings as required. Interested candidates should have access to their own transport.
Responsibilities include:
1. Drive excellent visitor experience standards to exceed visitor expectations
2. Supervising the operation of Lismore Castle Arts’ entrance desk, café, shop and galleries during scheduled shifts
3. Leading by example and demonstrating exceptional standards of behaviour ensuring the integrity of the organisation
4. Supporting, motivating and encouraging the team
5. Maintain a safe and secure working environment, ensuring daily compliance with all aspects of HACCP, food hygiene, allergen and health and safety regulation
6. Comply with all company policies and procedures
7. Oversee daily cash handling and administration, and provide cash reconciliation reports to the Operations Manager
8. Managing stock and carrying out regular stock takes to contribute to budget and cost control
9. Assist the Operations Manager in coordinating garden and gallery tour group visits
10. Draft visitor experience team rotas
11. Respond to visitor queries and complaints that may arise on site
12. Light administrative work related to daily operations
13. Assist the Operations Manager in recording and monitoring visitor figures and visitor surveys
Essential experience / Person Specification:
1. A strong background in customer experience, ideally within artistic, retail or hospitality organisation
2. Previous supervisor experience essential
3. Ability to assess daily operational needs and demonstrate good problem solving skills
4. Excellent communication skills and ability to take initiative
5. Be a hands-on problem solver and team player
6. An ability to support, motivate and encourage the team
7. An ability to effectively delegate responsibilities and maximise resources
8. Excellent eye for detail
9. An interest in or knowledge of contemporary art
10. Good digital/computer skills
11. Must be available to work weekends, with some flexibility as required
