Senior Principal Accountancy Division at Brightwater
My client is an established 3 partner-chartered accountancy firm based in Co Meath. With an impressive database of clients, they have been providing quality-chartered accountancy services for over 30 years. They have a broad range of clients both in terms of audit, non-audit, sole trader etc. and in terms of industry/sector type.
Due to rapid growth, they are looking to add to their team an Income Tax Associate.
They are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Income Tax Associate to join their busy and supportive Income Tax Department. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to gain practical experience in Irish income tax compliance and advisory work within a professional practice environment. You will work closely with experienced tax professionals, assisting with a variety of tasks and developing your technical skills.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
* Tax Return Preparation: Assist in the preparation of income tax returns for individuals, sole traders, and partnerships, ensuring accuracy and adherence to relevant legislation and deadlines.
* Data Entry and Processing: Accurately input financial data into tax software and maintain organised client records.
* Tax Compliance Support: Assist senior team members with various tax compliance tasks, including preparing supporting documentation and liaising with the Revenue Commissioners (under supervision).
* Learning and Development: Actively develop your understanding of Irish income tax legislation, regulations, reliefs, and allowances through on-the-job training and formal study.
* Basic Tax Research: Conduct basic research on specific income tax queries using online resources, tax manuals, and Revenue guidance (under supervision).
* Client Communication: Assist with basic client communication to gather necessary information and respond to straightforward queries (under supervision).
* Administrative Tasks: Assist with general administrative duties within the department as required.
* Adherence to Firm Procedures: Follow the firm's internal policies and procedures, including those related to data protection and confidentiality.
* Professional Development: Actively pursue your accountancy qualifications and participate in relevant training and development opportunities provided by the firm.
Requirements:
* Relevant Tax Experience: Proven experience in preparing income tax returns and assisting with tax compliance within a professional practice environment.
* Working Towards Qualification (Optional): While not essential, an interest in pursuing or currently studying towards a relevant accountancy or tax qualification would be advantageous.
* Educational Background: A relevant qualification or demonstrable experience in a tax-related role.
* Strong Attention to Detail: Excellent accuracy and meticulous approach to work.
* Good Organisational Skills: Ability to manage tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
* Proficiency in IT: Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and ideally some experience with accounting or tax software (training will be provided).
* Excellent Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues.
* Proactive and Eager to Learn: A strong desire to learn and develop your tax knowledge and skills.
* Eligibility to work in Ireland.
