Project Manager Job
A Project Manager is required to join a large civil contractor in Galway on large utility projects. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience taking ownership over complex civils projects, preferably with experience in groundworks, roads, Irish Water, ESB, utilities and concrete.
The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing project plans and requirements, creating a detailed baseline programme using Microsoft Project, and regularly monitoring the programme to provide updates to clients. They will also identify and illustrate critical path delays on the programme as they occur and negotiate necessary extensions of time with the client.
In addition, the Project Manager will assess project pricing and track internal costs to ensure the project remains within budget. They will identify financial loss areas within the project, determine root causes, and develop mitigation strategies. The Project Manager will communicate these commercial issues and proposed solutions to the Contracts Manager.
Other key responsibilities include understanding the project contract and pricing, identifying any variations, negotiating additional costs with the client as needed, reviewing contract documentation, and communicating required notices to the client within specified timeframes.
The Project Manager will also serve as the line manager for the Site Agent, Project Engineer, and QS, overseeing all site workers through the Site Agent. They will review and approve monthly progress claims, review and approve Risk Assessment Method Statements and other pre-construction health and safety documentation, conduct regular health and safety and quality audits, and identify design issues and communicate proposed solutions to the client.
Requirements:
* 5+ years of experience as a foreman on civil engineering projects including groundworks, roads, Irish Water, ESB, utilities and concrete
* Extensive experience in effective management of sub-contractors
* Ability to work to tight deadlines
* Understanding of site levels, and ability to set up and use a pipe laser
* Excellent interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communication skills
* Full Driving Licence
* PC Skills to complete timesheets, requisitions etc
