Social Care Worker Respite Service
We are currently recruiting for a Social Care Worker for our Respite Services.
The role is Full Time - 156 hrs per 4-week roster - depending on requirement of Organisation / Staff arrangements. (Shift, evening, weekend work will be involved in this role).
The Social Care Worker will provide day-to-day personal care and support for the Service Users. The Social Care Worker must have the desire and the belief that the person with an intellectual disability has something unique, equal, and important to offer society.
The respite service provides planned respite breaks for adults in the CHO5 area. The respite service aims to provide a quality break to each service user based on each individual's will and preference ensuring a meaningful holiday experience.
Qualifications & Experience
1. QQI Level 7/8 Degree in Social Care/Social Care Studies or equivalent is required
2. Be registered in the social care workers register maintained by the social care workers registration board maintained by CORU.
OR
1. Hold a CORU approved social care worker qualification and have applied for CORU registration (evidence of application will be necessary). Hold a BA in social care.
OR
1. Be eligible for registration in the social care workers register maintained by the social care workers registration board maintained by CORU (evidence of application will be necessary).
2. A minimum of 2 years post qualification social care experience in the area of intellectual disability is required.
A strong commitment to caring and an empathetic understanding of those with an intellectual disability are essential attributes for this role. The successful candidate will need great people skills, be flexible and have experience with rapid and complex changing work environments.
The Social Care Worker, in cooperation with Management, will be responsible for ensuring that the person/s we support have good, high quality, safe, meaningful, and inclusive lives while in the respite service.
Ensure that the life and experience of Service Users reflects the core values of Delta Centre and Care Plans and that all Service Users experience dignity and respect, make choice, have an opportunity to make a contribution and learn, and demonstrate empathy towards Service Users.
Get to know each Service User in your care, pay attention to each Service User in your care, pay attention to 'cues' in their behavior, read them and follow behavior support plans where relevant. Be patient.
Review and put into practice the details of Care Plans and Person-Centered Plans for each Service User. Review, regularly, all protocols of care for each Service User in your care.
Understand and facilitate Service Users needs through the use of appropriate communication systems. Assist each individual in reaching the maximum potential in independence, communication, and personal development.
Establish trust relationships through consistency of care. Adhere to all Delta Centres Policies, Procedures, Employee Handbook and working practices.
Adhere to all national policies, including (but not limited to) HIQA Standards, HSE policies including any safeguarding policies. Encourage and support community involvement.
Support Service Users to identify their future aspirations and current support needs and consider how these can be met and ensure these are documented. Lead and encourage individual person-centered processes, ensuring the best possible outcomes for each learner in each aspect of their life while respecting their rights and choices.
Foster and encourage independence and initiative and respect the age and status of each Service User.

2. National and Delta Centre agreed Policies and Codes of Good Practice, including Safeguarding Vulnerable Persons at Risk of Abuse, Delta Centre Medication Policy
