Job Title: Retail Accountant
A role within our Finance team in Northern Ireland, working closely with colleagues and customers on areas of financial risk and managing/mitigating those risks.
Main Responsibilities:
* To maximise profitability by providing professional service and advice through delivery of financial guidance and business evaluation, assessment of investment in retail stores and management of relationships with solicitors and advisors.
* Implementation and further design of financial risk management procedures, collation, analysis and benchmarking of accounts.
Key Activities:
* To complete financial assessments of new and existing stores, preparing financial projections at both wholesale and retail level.
* Assist the sales and business development teams on acquisitions, churns and disposals, including reviewing due diligence information.
* Evaluate business proposals, assessing implications of various structures (company owned and operated, head lease, franchise and grants).
* Prepare Group credit committee requests for approval, including extensive financial analysis.
Risk Management & Legal Process:
* To support the sales and business development teams with legal aspects of business proposals, i.e. licence agreements, facility letters, leases, franchises.
* Manage legal processes around the acquisition and disposal of stores, ensuring adequate security is in place for all stores within portfolio.
Business Advice and Support:
* Act as a business partner to the sales and business development team on retailer proposals, providing financial advice and analysis.
* Support the sales team to improve profitability and negotiate with third party service providers on behalf of retailers.
Collation, Analysis and Benchmarking:
* Collect and analyse accounts from retailers in a timely manner, highlighting potential debt risks.
* Analyse accounts by store type in standard format, benchmarking and identifying best practice.
Requirements:
* Accountancy qualification to ACA, CIMA or ACCA standard.
* At least 1 year post-qualification experience, preferably in finance or a related field.
* Strong financial planning modelling and forecasting skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
* Excellent influencing, communication and interpersonal skills, including strong report writing and presentation skills.
