About Coimisiún na Meán
We are implementing a new regulatory regime for online safety. As the regulator for Ireland and Europe, we will protect people from online harms, enforce rules for platforms to keep users safe, and provide advice and complaints mechanisms.
We regulate broadcasters and video-on-demand providers, enforcing codes and rules on balance in news, child protection, political advertising, and accessibility. We also review our codes and extend them to streaming services and commercial gain.
We support the wider media sector through funding schemes for content that reflects Irish society, including Irish-language content. We promote media literacy and expect to take on a wider media development role.
