Your Contribution
As a Quality Engineer reporting to the Head of Quality Assurance, you will be responsible for ensuring the manufacturing process will produce a quality product the first time through by monitoring workflows, creating documentation, qualifying the product and manufacturing processes. You will also ensure alignment with customers, local, state and federal regulations and requirements. The Quality Engineer works with suppliers of materials and services to ensure compliance with all quality assurance specifications. You will also examine products to determine their quality, engage with customers, and gather product feedback. The Quality Engineer is accountable for leading continuous improvement projects using 6S/lean methodologies in the reduction of waste.
This Role Is Responsible To:
* Proactively support new product launches and advance development project team qualify product and processes at launch.
* Qualify product and processes in alignment with the PCN. Where new technology is implemented on one product line submit PCN to include upgrades, so all product is following a consistent manufacturing process.
* Use Six Sigma Lean methodologies when leading continuous improvement projects in the reduction of waste and process improvement.
* Communicate customer requirements related to product specifications, procedures and warranty issues to ensure compliance to those requirements.
* Conduct inspections of products and provide training of team members requiring guidance.
* Ensure manufacturing documentation includes customer and internal requirements to ensure first time quality product.
* Proactively interfaces with other departments; sales, production, logistics, EHS, engineering, human resources, purchasing and finance.
* Stay current on industry and product trends to identify growth and improvement opportunities.
Your Experience & Qualifications:
* 3-5 years’ experience as a Quality Engineer with the above-mentioned duties and responsibilities.
* Manufacturing experience required, Automotive preferred.
* ISO:9001 experience required. Auditing experience preferred.
* ERP Systems experience required; SAP preferred.
* PPAP, APQP experience preferred.
* Lean Six Sigma Black-belt Certification preferred.
* Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred.
