As the Senior Systems Administrator, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the information systems that support our core organizational functions. This includes supervising the monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of the current fleet of internal servers and services, while actively participating in new optimization projects.
Reporting to the Systems Operations Manager under the Director of Infrastructure, you will apply your communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify and resolve issues, plan and implement improvements, and communicate them, to maximize the benefit of IT systems.
What you’ll do:
* Implement an aligned infrastructure and technological stack and strategy focused on efficient operations across the organization.
* Measure the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
* Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
* Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
* Supervise and lead server operating system configuration and maintenance for a number of virtual servers, ensuring optimal performance and stability.
* Utilize industry-standard monitoring tools to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities on an ongoing basis.
* Propose and create system design models and specifications to provide direction to development teams.
* Assist with defining business requirements, identify and resolve system issues, and contribute to the overall effectiveness of our business systems.
* Assist all level engineers to ensure 24/7/365 availability of servers, systems, and related infrastructure, whether for internal or customer-facing systems.
* Create documentation related to all aspects of the covered area to make it available and applicable for typical cases and keep it up-to-date.
* Collaborate with other departments to adequately keep track and report cross projects & tasks to ensure the best value and quality of an effort.
About you:
* Strong knowledge and experience with Linux (CentOS/RHEL/CloudLinux) and LAMP stack.
* Proficiency in Linux Firewall.
* Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (OSI model, protocols, routing, and firewalls).
* Strong scripting knowledge in bash, perl, and python.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and drive projects to completion.
* Experience with MySQL/MariaDB/PostgreSQL, SQL administration is preferred.
* Being on call is an expected requirement for this position.
Will be a plus:
* Experience with virtualization platforms (Proxmox, Virtuozzo, and VMware).
* Experience with configuration management systems (Ansible, Puppet, and Salt).
* Familiarity with storage technologies like NFS and iSCSI troubleshooting.
