Internship Overview
This is a two-year commitment that includes directed education and hands-on experience in vegetation management, native plant propagation, consulting, and wildlife management.
Education and Experience
* 100 hours of directed education and shadowing employees in the company
* Opportunity to focus on aspects of the company that interest you
Upon completion of this internship, interns will have gained leadership experience, produced their own management plan, and earned licenses or certifications pursued during the internship.
Work Requirements
* Physically demanding work with ability to carry 40 lb. backpack sprayer for up to 10 hours/day
* Working in difficult conditions due to vegetation and topography
* Use of herbicides and brush cutters typical
Travel is a regular part of the job, with some projects requiring overnight stays up to 1 week in length.
Requirements
* High school diploma and coursework from an accredited college or university in biology, forestry, agriculture, botany, or a related field
* Age: minimum 18 years old
* Valid driver's license
* Plant identification skills taught in the internship; prior knowledge increases chances of being offered the position
Schedule
Expected hours/week: 40-45
Start Date: Negotiable, no later than June 2, 2025
End Date: The first year concludes in late August, with opportunity to transition to full-time work until late October, and the second year concludes in February.
Pay Rate
Starting pay is $13.25/hour or more depending on whether housing is utilized
