Job Title: EHS Specialist
Location: Carlow, Ireland (pharmaceutical manufacturer)
Summary
This is a contract position for an EHS Specialist who will provide technical guidance to the organization to ensure compliance with legal requirements related to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) as well as corporate standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines related to EHS and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have experience in EHS in the Biologics/Pharmaceutical industry or other highly regulated industries. Key responsibilities include:
* Develop and implement EHS programs to ensure compliance with local legislation, standards, and industry best practices. Programs include risk assessments, contractor management, incident investigation, emergency response, chemical management, waste management, water and air management, ergonomics, bio risk, equipment and machine safety, industrial hygiene, and high-risk work.
* Assist operational departments in achieving and establishing compliance.
* Prepare reports to site, divisional, and/or corporate management and regulatory agencies.
* Evaluate all EHS applicable requirements for new projects and processes, as well as changes in existing processes and installations.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have a technical bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety or science/engineering qualification. A post-grad EHS qualification is desirable. Other requirements include:
* 3+ years' EHS experience in pharmaceutical or other highly regulated industries.
* Proven track record of success in the environmental health and safety sector.
* Experience in supporting multiple activities/projects.
* Technical strength with an understanding of various EHS topics.
* Innovative and compliance-minded individual with the drive to seek out necessary information.
* Strong leadership skills with a 'safety first' mindset.
* Ability to influence others across departments.
* Self-directed with the ability to use own initiative to make EHS improvements.
* Dedicated to maintaining high standards and ensuring things are done properly onsite - 'right first time.'
