XOCEAN is an ocean data company – we collect data for clients ranging from mapping the seabed to monitoring the environment.
However, we do this differently, instead of using conventional crewed survey ships, we have developed a marine robotic system known as an Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV).
OverviewResponsible for build, maintenance and repair of all USV electronic components and equipment used in our vessels.Main Duties & Responsibilities Electrical panel build & installationConduct electrical maintenance on USVsExecution of FAT/SAT testing during commissioning Electrical design (power and communications)Compliance with, execution and promotion of Quality, Health and Safety standards on site at all timesManaging and maintaining Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety standardsFault finding in mechanical and electrical systemsResearch & Development support on new USV technology On occasion, this role may involveAccompanying USV offshore on support boat during testingBeing responsible for generator servicingConducting general mechanical maintenance of USV'sMonitoring workshop tooling and consumables levels and purchasing same, with approval from SupervisorImplementing, maintaining, managing and updating all standard operating procedures and processes appropriate to the role.Being responsible for training other team members to the required standards, including coaching and mentoring of othersRequirements: Essential Skills / Attributes and ExperienceFully Qualified Electrician Significant previous experience as an Electrical TechnicianMinimum 3 years' experience in Industrial/Control system wiringHold full clean drivers' licenceAbility to interpret technical drawings or Standard Operating ProceduresAbility to adhere to strict health and safety guidelinesAbility to work to a high standard Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a teamAbility to work under time pressureThe successful candidate may be required to travel on occasionDesirable ExperiencePLC/HMI development experienceGenerator/Battery system experienceMarine maintenance experience – hobby/industrial would be acceptableOff-shore qualifications i.e.
Powerboat licence, offshore survival, radio operators licence etc.
