Job Description
To oversee the day-to-day planning, coordination, and control of company production operations and order processing, ensuring desired quality, cost-effectiveness, and maximum efficiency levels are attained.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee daily production operations, incorporating production planning, scheduling, product processing, and quality management in accordance with customer specifications.
* Manage reporting staff, including organizing shift rotas, time & attendance, grievance, and discipline procedures.
* Assess raw materials and production staffing requirements, calculating required production time for maximum efficiency.
* Process orders, including ordering materials and liaison with customers.
* Develop and implement production targets, controlling costs within budgeted limits, devising systems to manage work-in-progress levels and ensure proper material waste management. Manage costs and production costing for accuracy.
* Ensure effective production layout for maximum efficiency and safety.
* Provide technical advice on materials, machinery, and production systems, offering hands-on assistance as needed.
* Lead process improvement programs to implement Lean Manufacturing techniques.
* Direct the production team on a daily basis, communicating company information, recruitment, selection, and discipline/grievance procedures in conjunction with the Operations Director.
* Review employee performance, identify training needs, and develop training programs to meet their requirements.
* Maintain strict compliance with ISO 9001 quality and CE requirements, continuously monitoring and improving standards.
* Ensure high-quality customer service.
* Inspect finished goods, investigate customer complaints, and analyze returns.
* Manage logistical aspects, such as delivery organization.
* Adhere to legislative Health & Safety regulations, maintaining shop floor housekeeping, equipment maintenance, and employee training.
* Implement total preventative maintenance programs, ensuring safe working practices.
* Report regularly to the Operations Director.
* Collaborate with other departments to introduce new products.
* Perform other duties as agreed upon with company Directors.
Qualifications:
* Steel fabrication knowledge.
* Health and safety training.
* 3 years of experience in a management role in a technical production environment.
* Experience managing people and dealing with customers.
* Production planning, scheduling, and manufacturing costing experience.
* Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
* Strong organizational, planning, and time management abilities.
