Category Manager
Location: Athlone, Co. Westmeath - Hybrid
Are you a results-driven professional with a passion for supply chain excellence? Our client is seeking an experienced Category Manager to join their dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with innovative professionals, manage supplier relationships, and lead impactful supply chain initiatives.
This hybrid position combines the flexibility of remote working with occasional travel to meet business needs, providing a balanced and fulfilling work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Relationship Management:
* Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with suppliers to deliver on performance metrics including cost, service, quality, and working capital.
* Conduct contractual reviews, supplier scorecards, and performance evaluations to ensure operational excellence.
Strategic Sourcing:
* Lead category strategies, supplier negotiations, and dual-sourcing initiatives to optimise supply chain effectiveness.
* Provide solutions to complex supply challenges and oversee external sourcing strategies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
* Work closely with teams across Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Finance to resolve issues and deliver on key projects.
* Actively support New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives and compliance projects.
Continuous Improvement:
* Drive initiatives that enhance supply chain agility, reduce lead times, and minimise costs.
* Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to ensure robust supply chain operations.
Procurement and Contracting:
* Lead RFP/RFQ processes, contract negotiations, benchmarking, and total cost analyses.
* Facilitate supply chain mapping and make-versus-buy evaluations to optimise procurement.
Compliance and Innovation:
* Ensure adherence to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards and regulatory requirements.
* Actively support projects focused on sustainability and operational efficiency.
What We’re Looking For
Experience and Qualifications:
* At least 7 years’ experience in third-party supply chain management, with a proven ability to manage and develop supplier relationships.
* A bachelor’s degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Key Skills:
* Strong leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
* Expertise in supply chain finance, GMP, regulatory requirements, and quality systems (FDA/ISO).
* Proficiency in ERP/ASCP systems (SAP preferred).
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to work with stakeholders across all organisational levels.
