Medisec has exciting opportunities for two Medico-Legal Advisors to join their growing team. Both roles are full-time positions with specified hybrid working arrangements, namely two days working from home (Monday and Friday), three days in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). One is a permanent position, the second is a maternity contract with the possibility of permanency.
Medisec is one of the leading professional indemnity insurance providers for healthcare professionals in Ireland and assists its members whenever their professional reputation is at risk. This can include a clinical negligence claim for damages, involvement in a tribunal or inquest, or an ethical or disciplinary matter. They also strive to provide outstanding education to their members, help reduce risk, incidence of complaints and claims, and promote best practice in patient safety and care.
The roles
The successful candidates will:
1. Advise Medisec members on the full range of medical, ethical or legal queries and dilemmas arising in day-to-day practice.
2. Work with the team on risk management awareness, education, and training.
3. Assist members with matters relating to professional conduct and ethics.
4. Assist members in drafting depositions for inquests, preparing for hearings, and liaising with Medisec’s external legal panel.
5. Keep abreast of and consider new legislation, regulation, and case law.
The candidates
You will require a strong knowledge of the medico-legal field in Ireland, have up to 5 years’ post-qualification experience, excellent oral and written communication skills, empathy, confidence, an eye for detail, and effective time-management. As the role is to advise, support, and assist members at a stressful time in their career, it can be emotionally and intellectually demanding.
The candidate must possess the ability and confidence to advise on medico-legal consequences and support our members during often difficult times in their careers. Competitive remuneration and benefits packages are on offer.
