Role Purpose
The Head of External Communications and Business Manager (interim) will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the external communication strategies of the company. This role is responsible for managing corporate communications, public relations, and external affairs to enhance the company's reputation and support its business objectives. Additionally, the role includes business management responsibilities to drive strategic initiatives and ensure effective operational execution.
Key Responsibilities:
1. External Communications:
Develop and implement comprehensive corporate communication strategies that align with business objectives and enhance the company's brand reputation. Deliver communications to maximize Vodafone’s share of voice and drive the reputation goals set by Group (RepTrak 70). Oversee all external communications, including media relations, crisis management, and stakeholder engagement. Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including media, lobby, and industry groups. Prepare and deliver executive-level reports and presentations on communication strategies and outcomes. Monitor and analyze media coverage and public opinion to inform communication strategies and responses. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards in all communication activities. Collaborate with internal departments to ensure consistent messaging and alignment of communication efforts. Develop and manage communication budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources. Work closely with the leadership team to operationalize strategic initiatives.
2. Business Management:
Drive strategic initiatives for External Affairs, supporting the External Affairs Director and cross-departmental collaboration. Monitor the performance of EA KPIs to drive continuous improvement. Support the team with digitalization and department efficiency. Prepare and deliver executive-level reports and presentations on communication strategies and outcomes.
3. Leadership and Team Management:
Lead a team of communications professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the team.
We are looking for you, if you have:
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or external affairs. • Experience in crisis communication and issues management. • Strong relationships with media and key stakeholders. • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic communication plans. • Excellent organizational and project management skills. • High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality. • Strong leadership and team management skills. • Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint. • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and departments. • Resilience and high degree of comfort with change and ambiguity.
