Job Description We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as a leader for Ireland's infrastructure team.
This is a key position, critical to our business, ensuring focused attention on Ireland's growing infrastructure needs and continued success in delivering major projects.
As the Director of Infrastructure Ireland, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our ability to meet the country's evolving demands and support its growth effectively.
Your leadership will be instrumental in driving strategic initiatives, fostering innovation, and ensuring the successful execution of our projects.
The Role As the Director of Infrastructure at Turner & Townsend in Ireland, you will lead the delivery of major infrastructure projects and programs across sectors such as rail, aviation, power, renewables, and utilities.
You will be responsible for growing and maintaining client relationships, managing teams, and ensuring successful project outcomes.
This role requires a strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen, a proven track record, and the ability to drive business growth in the Irish market.
Responsibilities Lead and manage the delivery of major infrastructure projects : Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of large-scale infrastructure projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Client Relationship Management : Manage our Key Account programmes – oversee and support Key Client Leads plan and deliver key account activities, including knowledge shares, relationship management, and new opportunity generation.
Strategic Collaboration and Partnership Development: Foster collaboration with alliance partners to secure and successfully deliver large-scale projects.
Build and maintain strong relationships to facilitate joint ventures and partnerships.
Team Leadership: Oversee team organization, including leadership, recruitment interviews, resource planning and deployment, staff competency development, and organizing mentoring and support.
Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop and implement strategic plans for the infrastructure division, aligning with the overall business goals of Turner & Townsend.
Monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
Quality Management: Ensure that all projects adhere to the highest quality standards.
Implement quality control processes and continuously monitor project performance to build trust and deliver excellence.
Financial Management: Oversee the financial performance of projects, ensuring effective budget management and cost control.
Provide regular financial reports and forecasts to senior management.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
Conduct regular risk assessments and implement measures to minimize impact.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations: Stay updated with the latest industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
Ensure all projects comply with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications 20+ years' experience with at least 10 years' management experience and a proven track record of leading capital programme delivery from inception through to completion of high value infrastructure projects / programmes.
Extensive knowledge of and understanding of capital project and programme delivery and how this supports and integrates with wider high functioning environments and capital investment plans.
Strong and demonstrable leadership and management experience, including project management, procurement, contract management, financial management and change management.
Experience in planning, governance, and delivery having managed multiple teams setting goals, objectives and priorities, and establishing clear roles and responsibilities for all direct reports.
Tangible experience of documenting best practice infrastructure development and implementation frameworks, policies and standards.
In-depth understanding of the design and delivery requirements of technically complex projects in the architectural / engineering / construction sectors.
Experience of dealing with a range of stakeholders at all levels across the organisation influencing the improvement of process and guidance to support project delivery and reporting.
A proven track record for winning work, growing businesses, and must have held a senior position in a large organisation.
Experienced in business development, identifying and securing opportunities / routes to market and enhancing existing client relationships.
Understanding of Major Projects delivery requirements with a proven ability to analyse complex problems, interpret operational needs and develop integrated, creative solutions.
Capability to establish and maintain trust with clients and team members through transparency, reliability, and consistent performance.
Competence in successfully leading large and diverse teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
The ability to mentor and develop team members aligns with the leadership requirements of this role.
Ability to develop and implement business strategies, with a focus on driving growth and profitability.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Proficiency in communicating effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to efficiently assigning tasks to team members, managing time effectively, and prioritizing tasks to ensure that project milestones are met, and objectives are achieved.
