Job Description
MYP & DP Language and Literature Teacher
Location: Nord Anglia International School Dublin
Reporting To: Head of Department, Heads of School & Principal
Job Purpose
As an MYP & DP Language and Literature Teacher, you will inspire and challenge students to develop their skills in critical reading, writing, and communication. You will create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that supports students with diverse linguistic backgrounds, ensuring their success in both the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP).
You will also support the school's long-term vision by being adaptable to potential curriculum changes, including the possible introduction of DP English B, and contribute to the ongoing development of the English department.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Learning
o Deliver engaging and differentiated Language and Literature lessons for MYP and DP students.
o Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of students from diverse linguistic backgrounds.
o Support students in developing analytical, creative, and communication skills.
o Integrate technology into the classroom to enhance learning.
o Assess and provide timely, constructive feedback to students.
2. Curriculum & Assessment
o Design and implement curriculum plans that align with IB frameworks.
o Prepare students for internal and external assessments, ensuring they meet IB criteria.
o Contribute to the continuous improvement of the English curriculum.
o Assist in the potential future development of an English B programme within the DP.
3. Professional Development & Collaboration
o Stay updated with best practices in IB Language and Literature education.
o Engage in professional learning and development activities.
o Collaborate with colleagues to share resources and improve teaching strategies.
o Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and the school community.
Required Skills/Abilities
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, or a related field.
* A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, PGDipEd, or equivalent).
* Experience teaching IB MYP and DP Language and Literature is highly desirable.
* Experience working with students from diverse linguistic backgrounds.
* Familiarity with or experience teaching DP English B would be an advantage.
