Saint Patrick's Cathedral has been at the centre of our history and culture for over 800 years. Dating from the 13th Century and built in honour of Ireland’s patron saint, Saint Patrick’s is the national Cathedral of the Church of Ireland and is also one of Ireland’s most popular tourist attractions.
We have an immediate requirement for a Retail Sales Assistant to join our busy team and assist with running the shop in the Cathedral. This is a fixed term contract initially for 11 months with a view to extend.
Weekly working hours will be 35 hours per week over 7 days; however, we may have scope for some part-time work also for the right candidate.
The hourly rate of pay is €14.35 per hour. Additional hours may be required to be worked on an occasional basis.
MAIN DUTIES
The ideal and successful candidate will:
* Be a team player who will work closely with the Retail Supervisor and alongside colleagues all working towards a common goal.
* Ensure that the Cathedral retail operation runs efficiently and effectively.
* Ensure that visitors receive courteous, friendly, and professional assistance at all times.
* Seek and strive for excellence in all customer interactions.
* Ensure all cash and credit transactions are carried out accurately.
* Carry out visual merchandising and stock replenishment, as required.
* Other duties as directed by Cathedral management.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
Essential
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Previous retail experience.
* Excellent customer service skills.
* Ability to stay calm under pressure.
* An ability to sell and interact with customers.
* Experience of cash and credit card handling procedures.
* A team player who is flexible and willing to work in different areas if required.
* Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the Cathedral’s commitment to safeguarding.
* A positive (can do) attitude.
Desirable
* Ideally 12 months previous retail experience.
* Experience in working in a built heritage environment.
