Job Title: Environmental Officer

Role Summary:
Dawn Meats is one of Europe's leading beef and lamb processing companies with locations across Ireland, UK, France and continental Europe employing over 8000 employees. We currently have opportunities for an experienced Environmental Officer to join our production team in Dawn Meats Group.
The successful candidate will be responsible for all environmental disciplines within the site. This will involve the day-to-day management of all environmental related activities along with a series of environmental and sustainability-based projects.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be based in our Dawn Meats production plants and will be responsible for:
1. Full compliance of the site EPA licence and all the related communication with relevant external bodies.
2. Controlling the operation, performance, cost, reporting and resourcing of the onsite Effluent Treatment Plant.
3. Leading the site energy and resource team to achieve energy, water and carbon reduction targets through measuring, analysis and reporting activities.
4. Capturing all relevant data relating to effluent, energy, water, waste and sustainability measures; and formatting such to form KPIs for reporting.
5. Maintain and improve ISO50001 Energy management and ISO14001 Environmental management system on site.
6. Complete site energy/environmental audits to identify opportunities for improvement and improve climate change resilience.
7. Co-ordinate all waste management practices on site in line with group goals.
8. Liaise with wider group environmental team on upcoming sustainability projects and strategies.
9. Promote and manage excellent relationships with suppliers and other service partners, i.e. contractors etc.
Qualifications:
The ideal Candidate will have or demonstrate:
1. A relevant 3rd level Environmental/Engineering qualification (preferably B.Sc./B.E. degree in engineering) or similar.
2. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
3. Audit experience and comfortable to deal with governing bodies.
4. Team player capable of working in a large operational team.
5. A good knowledge of mechanical, electrical and environmental engineering techniques, managing large amounts of data, report writing, and legislation.
6. Excellent IT skills, including proficient use of MS Office suite, particularly Excel.
7. Excellent communication skills with fluent English.
8. The ability to work as both part of a team and independently is essential.
