Your Impact:
As a pivotal member of our team, you will:
1. Play a key role in driving the commercial strategy, overseeing all aspects from tendering and estimating to final account preparation, ensuring alignment with our financial goals and operational efficiencies.
2. Drive the tender process, collaborating with the Managing Director to meticulously review, adjudicate, and prepare tenders, enhancing our project portfolio and securing optimal profit margins.
3. Champion the Commercial department, managing a cohesive team focused on estimating, quantity surveying, and ensuring adherence to our Integrated Management Systems for peak operational performance.
4. Play a critical role in project financial management, from initial cost analysis and cash flow forecasting to vigilant monitoring of project expenditures against progress, always ready to address and mitigate financial risks.
5. Cultivate strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely, accurate payments and to foster a network of cost-effective partnerships.
6. Provide expert advice on legal, contractual, and commercial risks, ensuring our projects proceed smoothly and align with industry best practices.
7. Prepare and present Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR) to the Directors bi-weekly, providing critical financial insights and projections.
8. Diligently maintain and update the Work in Progress (WIP) schedule, ensuring accurate tracking of project progress and financial standing.
9. Compile essential information for securing performance bonds, enhancing our competitive edge and project security.
10. Participate in internal progress review meetings, offering valuable insights and updates on project statuses and financial health.
11. Execute precise re-measurement of Bill of Quantities (BOQ) elements, ensuring accurate and fair valuation of work done and materials used.
12. Foster strong professional relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams, aligning on project goals, ensuring timely payments, and promoting cost-effective procurement strategies.
What You Bring to the Table:
1. A bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
2. 5-10 years experience as a Commercial Manager
3. Demonstrated commercial acumen in a similar size business with a rich background in the construction industry, underscored by a history of successful project delivery.
4. Exceptional numeracy and negotiation prowess, with a keen eye for detail and a systematic approach to problem-solving.
5. Proficiency in MS 365 (Outlook, Teams, Excel), Sage Construct, or equivalent job costing software, and specialist measurement software like Cubit.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to forge strong relationships and work effectively both within our team and with external partners.
7. Organizational mastery, capable of juggling multiple projects while maintaining focus and delivering on deadlines.
